We’re ending the year on a high, with a place on the UK Partner Award artist shortlist from disability arts commissioners Unlimited.

We have been shortlisted for our new large-scale work Our Worlds Collide, currently in early stages of development. The piece explores the tensions between caregiving and being cared for within families. Drawing from Artistic Director Nikki Watson’s lived experience, Our Worlds Collide navigates the emotional challenges faced by carers and loved ones. Using dance and ambitious sound, light and set design elements, this inclusive performance will speak to the complex realities of care.

As with all of CoDa’s work, we are working closely with our Lived Experience Consultants (LECs) throughout creation. As well as sharing their own stories of what it’s like to be, or to care for, someone with a neurological disability, our LECs will join at different points during development to consult on access and the authenticity of the work.

Since Unlimited was founded in 2013, they’ve distributed over £6.5 million of funding to 521 diverse, disabled artists. For this round of awards they had 288 eligible applicants in total – with only 15% being selected for the final round of assessment.

Chosen by their disabled-led panel, we now go forward in the journey towards securing funding to bring Nikki’s vision to life, with the final selections announced in March 2025.
