Exciting times are ahead for our Dance for Neurology workshops.

We recently received news that London Catalyst and the Hospital Saturday fund are awarding us over £11,000 to make it possible for us to offer our specialist dance sessions more widely.

Dance for Neurology is designed to complement physiotherapy rehabilitation for neuro-disabled people with conditions like MS and acquired brain injuries. The movement and dance exercises are tailored to the needs and abilities of neuro-disabled people (including those who are profoundly disabled) in order to increase range of movement, improve cognitive attention, and provide social connection.

We currently run regular sessions at The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) and this funding will mean we can also provide them at St George’s Hospital and the new Glavic Clinic in London.

An occupational therapist at RHN had this to say about our workshops: “We have all loved having CoDa on our ward. We have seen some wonderful participation from patients with a variety of abilities. Barriers that are often so apparent in the patients’ day to day life seemed to be lowered when engaging in dance. There is always plenty of smiling and laughter from both staff and patients when CoDa are on the ward.”

We are really grateful to be able to expand our programme and support increasing numbers of neuro-disabled people to engage in bespoke, accessible movement and dance.
